I know in today’s stressful and hectic lifestyle you tend to overlook taking care of yourselves, your skin and hair. But you really need to take out some time for yourself as looking and feeling good boosts your confidence and helps you to stay happy.
And taking care of your hair is very important as it is your crowning beauty, which makes or breaks your look in totality. And who don’t want their hair to be healthy and full of life? It’s a dream for every girl to get luscious hair and flaunt them in different styles.
But for this to make happen, having a proper and consistent hair care routine is very essential. There are hair care tips which you need to follow daily and weekly to get strong and shiny mane. These tips are for everyone, no matter what your hair texture, color or style is.

Its obvious when you get ready in the morning you do brush your hair but you should also do it before going to bed. Brushing keeps your hair untangled and distributes its natural oils throughout the hair. Its a very important part of your hair care routine.
What also matters is the brushing technique. Don’t be very aggressive with your locks and always brush from the bottom and then go up. This helps in easily loosening up the tangles and the chances of hair breakage are less.
Also, don’t comb your hair when it is wet. Wet hair is fragile and breaks easily. So, gently untangle them with your fingers or use a wide-toothed comb.
Apply Hair Styling Products In Moderation
If you use hair styling products to set or style your hair then use them in less quantity. Using too much of hair styling products like hairspray, wax and serums may weigh down your hair and make it greasy and dirty very fast, which may lead to frequent hair washes. And washing your hair very frequently and more than 2 or 3 times a week is bad for your hair.
Use heat protectant spray every time you style your hair with the help of a hair straightener, curler or blow-dryer. But overall, try to avoid styling your hair with these products on a daily basis.

Massage Your Scalp With A Good Hair Oil
Oiling your hair is necessary for a perfect hair care routine. A good hair oil massage will seal your hair cuticle with moisture and provides your hair with essential minerals and vitamins. It strengthens your hair roots and increases blood circulation in your scalp which promotes hair growth.
You can use coconut oil, argan oil, almond oil, castor oil, olive oil or Indian gooseberry oil. You can even mix some of these oils together with each other and even add a few drops of any essential oil like rosemary, lavender, lemongrass and then apply it to your hair.
The product which I use to oil my hair is Kama Ayurveda Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment Oil. It’s a non-greasy and lightweight ayurvedic oil. It moisturizes and tames my dry and frizzy hair very well and helps keep my dandruff at bay. It also helps in reducing hair fall over time. So, I highly recommend this product. Massage the oil on your scalp after warming it up by double boiler method and apply it by sectioning your hair. Then let it sit for about 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Steam Your Hair
After oiling your hair give them steam to help penetrate oil better in the hair roots. Wet a towel in very hot water, squeeze out the water and place it on your head. You can also steam them by purchasing a handy steamer.
The heat aids in hydrating your hair well and encourages better blood circulation in the scalp. Do it for 15 to 20 minutes. Then wash off your hair after a total of 30 minutes or 1 hour.
Deep Condition Your Hair After Washing Them
Every once in a while, deep condition your hair with a good hair conditioner to moisturize your hair thoroughly. Apply it right to the root of your hair and then work on your length.
You can also use a broad toothed comb and run it through your hair to make sure the conditioner reaches everywhere. Leave the conditioner in for 15 to 20 minutes then rinse it with plain water.

Hair Washing Tips And Secrets
Wash Your Hair Not More Than Twice Or Thrice A Week
Figure out when you need a hair wash by knowing your hair type and texture. Whether your hair is dry, oily, straight, wavy, curly, thick or fine; wash them as and when required and when they are dirty.
Don’t over-wash them as it can take away natural oils from your hair and scalp and make them dry, rough and frizzy. It can also damage your locks and result in dandruff.
Also, let your hair air dry most of the times.
Shampoo And Condition Your Hair The Right Way
In a good hair care routine, the way you shampoo your hair is very important for getting dirt-free, strong and shiny tresses. Always shampoo in a small, circular motion and massage your scalp thoroughly. This will increase blood flow in your scalp which stimulates hair growth and result in the healthy mane.
I use WOW Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo to wash my hair. It’s a sulfate and paraben-free shampoo and is very effective in removing dirt and grime from your hair. It makes your scalp squeaky clean and also removes any product build-up.
But it makes my hair very dry and tangled, so I use it only when I oil my hair. And using a conditioner after washing your hair with it is a must. So, I alternate between this and Dove Environmental Defence Shampoo whenever I wash my hair without oiling. Its great for dry and damaged hair and nourishes them well. Both these shampoos also give good voluminous effect to your hair.
After shampooing your hair apply a good hydrating conditioner after squeezing out excess water. Apply it on the mid-lengths and ends of your hair. Then rinse off the conditioner with cold water as it is good for both strength and shine.

Apply A Hair Serum
After towel drying your hair apply a hair serum to the length and ends of your hair to control any frizziness, if present and make your hair manageable and soft.
Two hair serums which I highly recommend is Innisfree Camellia Essential Hair Oil Serum and The Body Shop Grapeseed Glossing Hair Serum. These are non-sticky, non-greasy and lightweight hair serums. They are absorbed by your hair fast and leaves your hair smooth, glossy, frizz-free, and bouncy.
Plus, they smell absolutely heavenly. The Innisfree one has mild floral-fruity fragrance and The Body Shop one has fruity-citrusy fragrance. The fragrance of both of these products lingers on for almost a day. I alternate between the two whenever I feel like.
Some Other Hair Care Tips
- Wash your hair with cool or lukewarm water as hot water can dry it out and damage it.
- Try and buy a shampoo that’s sulfate, parabens, and silicones free. Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) is very bad for your hair and can damage them in the long run.
- Invest in good quality hair care and styling products and tools. Cheap products with harmful ingredients or tools made with bad materials can damage your hair immensely.
- While buying products for your hair, always keep in your mind your hair type, texture, and need. Not every product can suit your hair or give you the same results as it might give to others. So, try and then figure out what works best for you. Or you can even consult a hair specialist.
- Keep your brushes clean and free of dead hair, oil, and product build-up by washing them in a mixture of baking soda and warm water once a month.
- Trim your hair every couple of months to get rid of split ends. Regular trimming also helps in growing your hair fast. So, do it more often if you wish to get long hair.
- If you are facing too much hair fall then its advisable to consult a doctor. Losing 100 to 150 strands a day is normal but more than that is severe and can be because of many other factors like hormones, diet, age, etc.
